Buying Silicon Graphics would be absolutely cool.

The last thing that AMD needs to do is to compete with its own customers for the retail pie.

Regarding what AMD needs to do to promote hammer? Since Hammer is designed to work in 2-8 way systems, they should team up with a university to design and commission a 1000 PC 8 way system bewolf cluster running 64 bit Linux. This should rank #1 in a few benchmarks of all super computers around the world.

Then they should tout the Hammer as the CPU that made the fastest super computer in the world and suggest that consumers can get a piece of this "super computer" on their very own desktops.

It's time AMD stopped competing with Intel in front of the general public. They need to hire Apple's PR agency and dump whoever they use now.
