Dale,

What's this AMD oughta buy SGI stuff? First SGI was going all Intel, now I see to configure an Origin 3200 system, you get to select a 400 or a 500 MHz MIPS processor. Even Sun got much higher than those types of cycle times recently. I know it isn't all hardware and they have a history of great graphics, but have they lost it WRT new products development? Intel based servers from IBM, Compaq, Dell or HP are probably just as good or better nowadays, and they're very reliable.

Tony

Re: "). Although there would be significant porting effort, Irix can be ported to a Little Endian architecture, just as Linux can be run on either Little Endian or Big Endian processors. "

No kidding ?

So why is SGI building ITanium systems?
