It is correct, that I recommend Linux as a replacemen for Windows. It is also correct, that I wouldn't recommend anything to anybody. I would never recommend Linux to somebody who absolutely has to use Microsoft Publisher. And I would never recommend Windows to somebody setting up a public DNS server.

My basic points about Linux vs. Windows is, that Linux is able to do more and more of what Windows is used for, making Linux a better choice for more and more people. As this happens, Microsoft will be unable to charge the prices it does, unless .net succeeds and becomes the major experienced value. If you want to bet your money on Microsoft, you should acknowledge that you bet your money on .net. And I'm not in the position to judge .net now.
