rudedog, Gates had misgivings about the NY bash and checked with the mayor, who invited him with open arms. www0.mercurycenter.com

Let's face it: no matter how Microsoft did it, some people will always find something to complain about. It's getting tiresome.

Exactly. UK is still English language, and if you do an event in UK, it is just overshadowed by the U.S. UK has been an outsider in Europe for so many years in so many areas. They weren't member from start, have been unwilling to be part of the social laws, unwilling to be part of the Euro currency, unwilling to be part of many new political structures, have blamed EU for many things like the Mad Cow Disease etc. Until recently, they were also the only country not to use the meter system. We had to force them to change, and they are definitely not happy about it. And if you notice - UK normally doesn't speak against USA in politics.

Microsoft should have made a multi-language event (we have many of those in Europe), and at least place it in one of the main countries: Germany, France or Benelux. Or they should have made the New York event international.
