«Uncut» results reflect the total content of gold in the sample.

However, high gold values do not tend to replicate themselves in different samples taken from the same location (it's called the «nugget effect»). So, these results are usually «cut» to a lower and statistically more representative value. The later is determined according to the number of holes, their location (grid density), the lenght of the mineralized intersection, the average grade, the standard deviation....

So «cut» results are statistically more representative results used to make calculation of ressources or reserves.
