The suggestion that no benefit is derived from Israel is not something I can agree with.

At one point, there was the benefit to politicians, of Jewish votes and campaign contributions.

As our oil interests grew, Israel was our only ally in the region at first, and as the strongest military power in the region (only partly because of our support) it was important to have a base of operations to defend our interests.

Israel has also been one of the most innovative tech providers, and its companies aided the growth of the Net and other tech sectors.

I'm fairly certain I'm missing some points here but the suggestion that all they've provided in return is bagels, is overlooking a lot.
