Gordon Mooreand his wife Betty are donating $600 million to the California Institute of Technology to help students do things like mull the power of future microchips. The Intel co-founder and his wife gave $300 million to the university, while the foundation that bears their name chipped in another $300 million. The money will go to educational and scientific programs. Moore, 72, received a doctorate degree in chemistry from Caltech in 1954. He later gave the world Moore's law--which states the power of microchips doubles every year--and Intel, the world's biggest chip company. The Moore's $300 million gift will be distributed over five years, while the foundation's contribution will be made over a 10-year-period. Moore has a net worth of about $5.3 billion.More...

If a guy gets in a pissing match with you, you win by arranging to have a bucket of urine poured on him. Half efforts against a bully always fail. As anyone who's had such an experience in life knows, turning the other cheek also almost invariably fails.
