Boston's Logan Airport plans to use facial recognition technology from rival companies Viisage and Visionics, according to a report in the Boston Globe. The newspaper reported Wednesday that each company, at its own expense, will set up a trial facial recognition system at undisclosed checkpoints. Logan officials, who were not immediately available for comment, plan to evaluate the technology for 90 days to determine if it would be useful in enhancing security, the report said. The two planes that were crashed into the World Trade Center on Sept. 11 were hijacked from Logan. In premarket trading, shares of Viisage [visg] edged down 1 cent to $11.90 while shares of Visionics added 15 cents to $13.35.
