Actually, the article you posted on Iran is probably one of the most fascinating in recent weeks, if only because it represents some potential good news. And like the fall of communism, it would present the first instance where an Islamic state has been replaced by a secular one, in many years.

Iran is definitely reaching a point where the younger folks are ready for the hardliners to give up power. But it now depends on how far the US is willing to go to topple the last powerful remnants of extremism there.

And I wouldn't discount the possibility that the US is playing some VERY subtle role there, if only providing financing and moral support to certain groups. But we know that sometimes these kinds of movements just launch themselves spontaneously and can grow beyond the governments ability, or willingness, to quell..
