Airliners are capable of using autopilots on Cat. III fields where fog is common (Seattle, for instance) and ILS is installed. Newer planes like the 777 and the new Airbus are capable of autopilot landings even on Cat. I fields.

Modern fly by wire aircraft can be landed easily hands off!
