I see richie is back fabricating the 15 seconds from 10000 feet. I always wonder how often richie crosses over to get his who knows what data.

richie as a make believe engineer I can understand why you are clueless about why one could fly 600 mph at 1000 feet even in a 757.

Rich,
My understanding is that there was no ID that the plane was flight 77. Since the transponder was turned off, the only information from the radar, was location, not altitude or ID. But it was probably the only aircraft airborne at the time with no transponder information - there may have been F-16s in the air, but reports had them going supersonic. If I remember correctly, reporters from the Washington Post were shown (backup?) tracings of the radar, and confirmed the ABC story and that of the Air Traffic Controller. It was also pointed out that since the plane was traveling east, that the sun would have been in the pilots eyes, which would have made finding the target (if it was the White House or Capitol bldg) more difficult.

According to the ABC report, both the White House and the Capitol building are within the same restricted airspace.

I am not a pilot. I presume that there was partial descent when approaching the White House area, and therefore that it was less than 10,000 feet when the curve was made. One of the points is that the Pentagon is a very large, unique looking, visible target. Since part of the point is the difficulty of picking out the White House, as a reason for failure to make contact, all I can say is that the terrorists were not very good at thinking it all through. I do not know about what the radar track showed, of course......
