In defense of that utterly stupid statement, that was my interpretation of Wanna's post, which was his interpretation of why Intel started the stupid price war. That is hardly my view.

Intel dropped the price of the Celeron to what "Microprocessor Report" considered to be the cost of manufacture, and made their profit on the PentiumII. It had the, I am sure, unintended side-effect of driving Cyrix, Winchip and Rise from the market. It also almost drove AMD into bankruptcy, but then AMD finished the Athlon and... <<<<<<<<<<<

Of course Elmer thinks AMD also started that price war; and he will likely insist AMD started the current one by forcing Intel to lower prices yesterday.
