Isopatch, Trust me- The fascist mass murderers can do some damage, but I would not worry about serial terrorist attacks in the US. We have classes of weapons that have never been seen or used. Ever heard of the Aurora Project? Know what an AFV is?? Know what "Mikas" are? Know what Psionic warfare is?? Also don't underestimate the combined intelligence of the US, Russia, Pakistan, Germany, and the UK, as well as a host of other countries.

Instead take heart in the words of UK Prime Minister Tony Blair this morning:

He said there was now "a group of people in Afghanistan who are the sworn enemies of everything the civilised world stands for who have killed once on a vast scale and will kill again unless stopped".

He added: "They have one hope: that we are somehow decadent, that we lack the moral fibre or will or courage to take them on; that we might begin but we won't finish; that we will start, then falter; that when the first setbacks occur, we will lose our nerve.

"They are wrong. We won't falter.

"We will not stop until our mission is complete. We will not flinch from doing what is necessary to complete it.

"We will not fail and we will do it all because we believe in our values of justice, tolerance and respect for all regardless of race, religion or creed just as passionately as they believe in a fanatical hatred of Jews, Christians and any Muslims who don't share their perverse view of Islam."

Remember that Jesus said to "love your enemies" and to pray for them to see the truth, rather than to hate or kill your enemies as certain other groups do.

Finally say a prayer for the 16 Pakistani women and children Christians massacred by Islamic fundamentalists with AK-47's at their Church Sunday. Say a prayer for the rapidly growing church in Pakistan now with over 1,200,000 adherents. The fundamentlists also fear their growth.....

Isopatch,

Your "rants" carry weight with me. If you are correct, then sign me up for early retirement. Hopefully this world will still be the kind of place in which I can enjoy it.

Regards,

vt

Enjoyed that post.
I have seen nothing from my Canadian government and very little from the Bush team to put any faith that the up coming financial meltdown can be avoided.
Everybody should be making plans to take care of themselves and their families.
Our Canadian Immigration Minister Elinor Caplan should be arrested by the RCMP and charged with aiding and abetting the enemy for not taking this immigration threat seriously.
At the very least she qualifies to be put on the CIA's number one watch list.
Regarding the announcement that Bush will be pursuing Star Wars and ordering some $200 billion in high tech planes.
Is America collectively breathing a big sigh of relief about that?
Nobody should assume our politicians will do the right thing .
Anyhow fighting terrorism with one armed tied behind our backs and catering to the politically correct crowd worried about torture and civil rights will doom Western civilization.
"Oh we should not bomb during Ramadan"
"900 continue to be detained without charges"
Oh my how terrible.
Meanwhile Bin Laden is probably arranging the delivery of an unconventional nuclear device set to explode somewhere in New York.Imagine the chaos and destruction if 20 square miles have to be evacuated because of a "dirty"nuclear bomb.
And America continues to trade with the enemy by buying oil from the Saudis and Iraq.

>>Reason? Right now, we don't have a functioning central government. <<

That seems a tad overboard, although I do agree that there are two sets of things going on: Those reported for our sakes and those behind the scenes. A complete loss of faith in economic policy makers is "right round the corner," but that is different from a complete loss of confidence in the government as a whole.

Terrorists can do a lot to disrupt and esp to destabilize our economy which was so vulnerable to start with. They will certainly succed at this, but whether they will succeed at larger objectives is not clear -- even if there should be attacks similar to that of Sept 11.

Recent events have provoked what I call a 'thin veneer' of patriotism -- when things really get dire, I think we will find that there are a number of people in this country who will pull together. Not fun to watch or be a part of -- but that is where we are at. Got to be ready to go the extra mile ourselves and make some sacrifices, IMO.
