That would be helpful. Also, there are fads, like "critical thinking", which ignore what is age appropriate and eat up instructional time by devaluing the learning of facts and skills. There is the idea that insisting on correct spelling stifles creativity, so kids can get away with all kinds of preposterous mistakes. Drilling is bad. "Math facts" will be picked up "eventually". When my son entered middle school, I went to an orientation. Talking to a six grade math teacher, she asked me if he knew his "math facts" yet, like the multiplication tables. I said "sure", but was taken aback at the idea that someone might not..............
