Methane hydrates sound great. But we don't need to wait even another day:

All that an enterprising oil company that wants to get rich, fast, would have to do is provide a label on their one of their gas pumps that say:"non-Middle East gasoline" for fuel derived from anywhere else in the world.

There would be a riot to get in. They could charge a premium. They would have $100 million in free publicity and be all over the media. Their profits would skyrocket and so would their stock.

It would also cause riots in SA and around the world, with the message:"holy Mohammad ! The American Consumer has awakened! We can't control them, like we have the politicians! What can we do !?"

Where is such a company? In tech-land, it would have happened yesterday. These oil companies are incredibly dense, or ...
