Brushdud - Re: "It's interesting that Intel only earned $106 million last Q, but paid out over $134 million in dividends. "

Thank GOD for those dividends !!

How much did AMD send your way in dividends over the past..say..10 years?

Re: "And today's drop in market value was equal to eight years of those dividends. Kind of amazing, isn't it? "

Sure was - how did you like AMD's drop in market value today - about the same as Intel's on a percentage basis -

and this makes you wanna love Mad Man Sanders?

what is amazing is that any dividends are paid at all. I mean most investors in INTC would probably rather not have the taxation issue and trust Mgmnt to invest better in the future (Higher NPV projects) than the investor could (via other company's shares).

Your post proves the point that there will always be those who myopically concentrate on dividends for really no good reason. It's downright SILLY to compare a quarter of GAAP earnings to cash flow paid out in dividends (which are paid out, perhaps, to appease the few old timers who still think ANY dividend payout signals strength to the marketplace). Shall we compare today's gain in market cap. to years of dividends it represents and keep this fruitless exercise going?
