$280 gold--looks promising. $300 or higher this year?

Yes, Guree, we can hope this is the "real thing" this time.

However, to be realistic, there are still many negatives which will impact on POG rising far.
1. The USD is too strong
2. Consumer buying of jewellery, in the US and probably most other countries in the West, is right down
3. There is no serious inflation, in fact, despite all the money printing, there is still deflation as evidenced by the low prices of all/most commodities and what I consider to be a bear market in stock markets, generally.
4. Gold mining production is still too high

But I do accept there is an increasing loss on confidence in paper money and money instruments, particularly now, with economies virtually all in recession and interest rates all tending to zero.

Furthermore, there is a dearth of satisfactory investments everywhere ie those with realistic earnings and/or dividend yields and/or secular (demonstrative, not fictitious) growth rates.
