Paul, Re: "Well, I guess the only thing that I would like to share with you there is that we are just getting into the server space. We are shipping merely tens of thousands currently of Athlon MPs."

Why would anyone bother buying an Athlon MP? It's the exact same product as the Athlon XP, except with a bigger price tag. It used to be that the "MP" Athlons were validated for dual processor systems, while the older Athlons weren't, but now the "XP" Athlons have this capability, too! Just what is AMD trying to pull, with two identical products, that differ only by a name and a price tag?

re: "How long ago was the 100,000th Athlon SMP system shipped? "

Jerry Sanders just publicly stated in AMD's Conference Call that they only shipped "merely tens of thousands" of AThWiper MPs - which would make the SMP system shipments LESS that HALF that amount !

Everything you say seems to be an outright LIE !

What, do you think they stopped shipping on October 1? I don't.

Re: Sanders stated in AMD's Conference Call that they had shipped "tens of thousands" of Athlon MPs

Yep, last quarter was a period of limited SMP volume for AMD, but last quarter ended quite a while ago, and AMD's Dual processor shipments have clearly been growing quickly.

We used to get them right away, but now sometimes have to wait. My VAR called me two weeks ago to know if we'd had any experience with SCO UNIX 5.5 on any of our Athlon MPs because another of his clients wanted to move their systems from PII duals to Athlon MP duals.

We hadn't, but I was able to point him to confirmation that SCO 5.5 is fully supported for the Tyan Athlon SMP boards.

What was a trickle last quarter appears to be turning into a flood of systems for AMD.

Xeon is too slow and too expensive to sell these days - too bad for Intel!

Paul, we sure missed you when Dan was posting his usual B.S. and you weren't around to counter it.

I think it's high time you changed your SI personal profile and replace "Scumbria" with "Dan3." At least Scumbria sometimes displays some real intelligence and insight.
