Of course it has a low probablity of happening. With almost everyone in the coalition working at cross purposes. Russia and India have again sounded off about no moderate Taliban. I am sure China and Russia are secretly happy to see the US stew despite a lot of outward warm fuzzies. Further I cannot think of single country that reunited except Germany. But still in India at least I think it is not such an unthinkable idea, many still dream wistfully for undivided India. And the Paktoons do dream of uniting all of their land. Now, I do not know why Afghanistan was never invaded, but they are not unique. Nepal has never been colonized by the Brits, atleast that is what I heard some nepalese paper claim. So what gives, my own opinion was that there was n't much for the Brits there to waste scare resources on. No profits, no plunder so they were left alone, same for Afghanistan. Once sea lanes became more important, land routes became useless. I reserve the right to be wrong though. As for mixed tribes etc. People from McLands just don't get it. Back in the old countries there are really no exact borders. eg. There is no exact border where India ends and Nepal begins (except in a map) or Burma. I recently looked at the one of the brand new states that got created in India, Uttaranchal, it is a himalayan state, with tibetan tribes who are buddhist, who used to hang around tibet india border, who suddenly got their way of life all upset because of hard borders in the last 50 years between India and Tibet (oops China). Plus this state with only 7 million people has 5 or 6 other tribes/ethnicities not counting the plains people who have moved in. bostonglobalaction.net
