The exhaustive studies by Benny Morris (controversial only because of their implications) clearly demonstrate that any Arab appeals to evacuate were a miniscule factor

A miniscule factor? But I thought you said they never even existed, in fact, you called them "a flagrant lie". More than once, in fact. Change your mind?

And of course Benny Morris is controversial, not just with orthodox Israeli historians, but even with other revisionist historians such as Shabtai Teveth. Ephraim Karsch, has severely criticized his use of false and misleading quotes and his conclusions that speak as if Israel was acting in peacetime, not in the context of five Arab armies promising to destroy it. Cf. Ephraim Karsh, Fabricating Israeli History: the new 'historians'

When one historian provokes other historians to write a whole book to debunk him, it's fair to call him "controverisal", I think.
