The clue pointing to this being a driver problem is that the system runs without the driver being loaded - evidently without regard to time or temperature - and then the problem is encountered when the driver is loaded.

It's similar to what we've seen on Dual PIII boards from Microstar. The drivers that shipped with the systems had problems when drivers from dual head video cards were loaded, but Microstar supplied updated drivers that solved the problem. The order in which drivers are loaded can also affect system stability (for both Intel and AMD systems).
