What hardware or hardware/software combination is available that will permit a user of one phone line to recognize an incoming call while using the same line for connection to the net.

A second phone line maybe?

Have you looked into a satellite dish? Talk to radio shack.

Sprint offers wireless broadband here in Phoenix. Maybe your area too? Give them a call.

John - Re: "What hardware or hardware/software combination is available that will permit a user of one phone line to recognize an incoming call while using the same line for connection to the net. My phone line and Central Office combination does not support DSL. We don't have cable because of a remote location. Any suggestions. Thanks in advance. JFD "

Look for the newer 56K Modems with the V.92 capability.

This type of modem (V.92) will permit you to answer an incoming call while connected to the internet and MAINTAIN the internet connection while you are on the phone (voice).
