I was a young girl living in upstate NY when I shook his hand and got his autograph..........a moment I shall never forget. He was my hero for many years and still remains near the top of my list. Bobby was a man of tremendous courage and character that is rarely seen anymore.

I was in 8th grade when we had that missile crisis with Cuba. We were having air raid drills in my school. I remember being scared and wondering how it would all end. When the US announced that they would board all incoming Soviet ships the broadcast was played over our PA system in the school. We were petrified.

>> was his brilliant idea of a Naval Blockade that turned the Soviets in the Cuban Missile Crisis and averted global thermonuclear warfare

Sounds more like their incompetence brought US there. Furthermore, the Soviets were the winners - they got the US to remove its missiles from Turkey - something kept secret from the US public at the time. The Soviets took the US - but the Kennedys were more interested in domestic pr than reality.

Bobby Kennedy was a skunk and the supreme political opportunist of his and any generation. He was scion of the most corrupt family - a genuine organized crime family - in US politics.

The Kennedy regime was fully incompetent - whether it's because JFK was a drug addict or because of RFK's lousy judgment. Vienna, Cuba and Berlin were all fiascoes. Other leaders considered them second-rate or worse. Cuba and Berlin happened because the Soviets saw the Kennedys in action and were unimpressed.

RFK was certainly the most unscrupulous man* ever to serve as AG - they even passed a law to prevent that from ever happening again. Thank goodness Hoover used his power to keep them somewhat in line.
