You sure do know Quebec mining history!.

I was a shareholder of Louvem at that time. You never forget such discoveries when you are «in».

I was reading a book by Pierre Lassonde written in 1992. In it he states. "Louvicourt is the most important base metal discovery in Canada since Ontario's Kidd Creek in the 1960's".

I have read «The Gold Book» at least twice and bought FN shares at least 10 times!!!!!!!!! A brilliant man, this guy!

<The mine has not met these lofty expectations, presumably because of the failure to find more ore

These VMS deposits have usually the same form and it's difficult to extend reserves after you have determined their geometry. But they usually happen in clusters or groups <ggggg>

Is the upcoming drilling worthy of speculation? The term "3D seismic" suggests that they are not probing here; it suggests that they already know the exact location and probably the size of the anomalies, and need to know only whether they are ore. Perhaps a single drill hole could turn the trick (?). Is it possible that Pierre Lassonde could still prove correct in his pronouncement ? What are the odds ?

Since Noranda controls Novicourt, Novicourt exploration strategy is Noranda's one. Look at what they did in the Mattagami area (they discover in average one deposit every 5-7 years) . Systematic exploration usually gives good results. If there are some deposits left, they will find them, believe me! I have visited the Louvicourt mine. It's modern and effective. Noranda has to find ore to keep this operation running.

(I trust that speculation of this nature is acceptable on this thread.... mining exploration need not be "grass root").

Absolutely. Noranda's exploration results are the best kept secrets of the industry. Speculating on them is «pure speculation»!!!!!!!

;o)

NOV: The odds are now lower. This is from their last PR:

Detailed interpretation and analysis of the seismic survey has now been completed. This included a review of previous exploration drill results that helped to explain some of the identified anomalies. No anomaly equivalent to the Louvicourt orebody was found. However, three relatively shallow and smaller anomalies have been selected for follow-up with a limited diamond drill program.
