Any mission "could" end in disaster. Those are the fortunes of war. This is the same demolib defeatism which is so familiar. We've heard it with regard to BMD and any otherissue which would guarantee US security.

Just like any military operation can. What's your point? Obviously, the Taliban are not going to be a pushover like the conscripted Iraqis were in the Gulf War.

That operation then was a huge success in that we were able to probe enemy defenses, test the veracity of intelligence, kill a few Taliwhackers, then make tracks without a single US casualty.

Planners will use what was learned and develop better strategies.
