As to your last comment...I don't think it has done poorly at all. America hass been a free country for centuries vs India which has been allowed to blossom and figure out itself only 54 years ago. It takes some time for govts to figure out what works and what doesn't. Often, the first few years of freedom are followed by anarchy and turmoil (examples Russia, Bangla Desh, Middle East). Heck, we're still tring to work the blacks back into our system here in US. But if you have another example where a country HAS managed to emerge from a colonial rule and do better than India has done in the last 54 years, well, I'd be glad to hear about it and learn from them...
