"Relentlessly impressed by Clinton's compassionate poses, daring behavior and glib intellectualism, the many journalists with a soft spot for this rogue missed the point. Bill Clinton was a small man for a small time,
a panderer and pollster and not a leader, a man who was not up to the challenge of a major war against terrorism."
--Brent Bozell

Did Brent hit the nail on the head or what?

The Clinton Administration merely prevented terrorist attacks on US soil, sic the millenium bombing at LA airport.

The Bush Administration reacts to terrorist attacks on US soil and maybe prevents them with the terrorist alerts....doesn't really know for sure that the did ... but they could have. Good enough for conservatives.

No question that Bush has the better strategy here.

Three cheers for conservatives ... hip, hip, hooray.

Hey did you catch the Ari Fleischer White House Brief.
washingtonpost.com

FLEISCHER: Well, it's interesting, because even with all that's going on in the war against terrorism in Afghanistan and the military planning that the president's been involved as well as the domestic meetings of the home front council on the anthrax attacks, the president has also been keeping a busy agenda on other domestic issues.

Last week, he met for one hour to discuss Social Security and how best to reform the Social Security system. A commission the president appointed will make its recommendation to the president in December for how best to reform the system.

Wow! a Whole hour! Very impressive Ari. I know that I feel a lot more confident that Bush is spending his time on the important business of the American people.....How much time did Bush spend to throw the ceremonial baseball at opening day?

Extra credit: How many times did Ari dodge the question....

QUESTION: And just lastly, does he still pledge to push this issue [Social Security reform] during the luncheon here next year?

Follow up...

Every day I say a little prayer thanking god for the conservatives; the GOP leadership, and especially the Republican members that sat on the intelligence committees. Those that were fully aware of the intelligence on the Sudanese aspirin factory, as you call it, and the association with it and Osasma Bin Laden and it's dual use as a biological factory of terror.

They chose to sit silently and with hold any public support for President Clinton's early attempt to get rid of Bin Laden or the destruction of the of the factory. Instead they chose to chase every manufactured inuendo they could imagine through Dan Burton. In the end and $50M later they caught Clinton lying about an extramarital affair.

The choice they made was political advantage over the security of the American people.

Now we have 5,000 dead; a collapsing economy; retroactive tax breaks to corporations.

I envision a new memorial. Bush at the top, surrounded by Trent Lott, Dan Burton and "Rush". The inscription...."Without these heroes rising out of the ashes of the disaster of the New York World Trade Center would not have been possible." The site of the World Trade centers is quite appropriate.

The only thing left now is to decide which demomination we want George W. Bush's picture on.

Puff up your chest, you have a party you can be proud of.

And then we have the fine VP Cheney...who meets with energy corporations to devise an energy policy.

Shortly after, we have rising energy prices and rolling brown outs throughout CA....and record energy profits to boot.

We hear from Cheney words of an energy crisis...we hear that energy prices will not decline in the forseeable future; we hear of continued rolling brown outs in California expanding to New England...the only thing we can reasonably do is to drill the Artic wastelands.

The GOP congress declines to hold any hearings.

Then a power shift occurs. Sen Daschle takes control of the Senate...discussions of hearings begin...

Energy prices decline; the rolling brown outs in CA become a thing of history...there are no rolling brown outs in New England.

We now have to drill the Artic wasteland to be independent of terrorism.

What do the American people get....

washingtonpost.com

....they get President Bush's words that People are having tough times in America. People are losing their jobs. And I'm deeply concerned about that."

and Fleischer indicated no willingness by the White House to budge on Democratic demands for more spending to aid the unemployed.

But Democrats are pushing for more money for idled workers, especially to help pay health insurance, while Republicans favor tax cuts aimed at businesses and upper-income individuals.

washingtonpost.com

Screw the unemployed...they should get a job. Now IBM, that's a different matter...they should get $1.5B in retroactive tax cuts and we should use public funds to cover losses of insurance companies against any future terrorist attacks.

This is what we call compassionate conservatism.

A party you can be proud of: the GOP.

...a panderer and pollster

Surely you're aware that the Bush team meets weekly to discuss the latest polls.

washingtonpost.com
Concerned that they are losing the war for international public opinion, particularly in the Islamic world, the United States and Britain have launched a public relations effort to aggressively counter Taliban claims of massive civilian deaths and destruction from U.S. bombs in Afghanistan.

Of course...keep in mind that when the DoD has been asked about death casualities...the DoD has responded that they don't keep any counts. So we really don't know what they are because we don't keep a count ... the PR campaign that's the key.
