Davidson and Ress-Mogg predict that the government will do two things to counter the demands of millions of people needing government welfare. One, the government will increase taxes on those that do have money and two, the government will print more money. Both actions will greatly damage the financial well-being of those that legitimately try to be financially responsible and not expect a government hand out.

Correct on both points as you have heard me declare before.

Bush will raise taxes because he will think the revenues are needed for the war, and the Democrats will spend the revenues on their welfare subsidies.

So what's your defense of the AMT?

Let me guess you are still worried about all those people who make millions and don't pay taxes while the burden of paying taxes falls on the middle class, am I close?

Go look at the breakout of who pays the bulk of the tax receipts in this country before you answer. It may surprise you as it did me because I swallowed whole the BS about the burden being on the middle class for years. While no one would argue with the idea that the middle class pays a high average tax percentage in comparison to the wealthy, you'll find that the bulk of that isn't income tax but SS and medicare transfer payments which impacts the lower end more significantly. There is a significant population which pays no income tax at all.....if you remember all the flack about the people who weren't getting a rebate check, that would be them.
