They expect to have some cheaper source of revenue. The candidates are...

1. They might actually believe that the high roller days of budget surpluses will soon return... it's not uncommon to begin believing one's own propaganda.

2. The soon-to-be-released war bonds.

3. Print more money.

And now, the envelope please... (drum roll)... the winner is... print more money.

BWDIK? As you probably know, there are some who believe that 90% of the U.S. gold reserves have already been sold in the effort to hold down the POG and all that's left are some "redefined" assets that exist only in some accountant's creative imagination. Whether or not this is true, there is the remote possibility that the U.S. would sell whatever remains of its gold reserves... but I don't think so.

Maybe somebody else out there can post some more alternatives.
