I've got an MS in Econometrics, and although both use statistical analysis, I've never heard anyone lump TA in with Econometrics because most of it uses intangible information (charting, for example) as a basis.
Both are analysis tools, and both are predictive, agreed.
But Econometrics, at least as I was taught it, would not consider itself kindred to TA except from the standpoint of statistical analysis....though I haven't yet read a TA primer that engages in anything as in depth as the models I used in grad school....
Then again, maybe we all just felt a little too good about ourselves and what we were doing.
