OK. OK. Perhaps a compromise is possible. Strict federal standards, some significant liability on the airlines and federal supervision (only supervision) of the airline security procedures. That should keep the number of gravy sucking demolib federal employees down and still accomplish the task. I think the feds have to be involved so that there is a nationwide coherent security policy....

Airport Security

It should be private and tested by government security forces. Navy Seals tested base security and reported to the government on their successes. Unfortunately that "government" was the Navy itself and they didn't really want their shortcomings known and often no improvement was made.

There's a story out right now that some 19 Syrian men came into the country in October for flight schools and not one was interviewed by the FBI. Frisking grandmas at Yankee Stadium and taking nailclippers from passengers is absurd in the light of our still lax immigration policies.
