Yes, that's true. But the human element also makes the markets work better. There is a certain degree of art to the investing world. Computers as of yet are not capable of that artistic component. For whatever reason, that has translated into the market valuing companies that pay consistent and increasing dividends higher than companies that do not.

I've found that saying that markets are illogical/emotional is fine, because otherwise there wouldn't be opportunity for us. But claiming that something is illogical over a long period of time, such as this issue, isn't a high probability choice.
