Yes, the American Military experts (they are combat troops) have just gone there in that troublesome part of Mindanao to assess the situation and then make recommendations to our Secretary of Defense. They could map strategies and help train the Philippine soldiers but not get involved with the actual fighting. Let the Filipinos fight their own --- that's what the Philippine government wants. But they need arms, their speed boats are no match to those boats used by the Abu Sayyaf. The group got very powerful weapons bought from North Korea and others.

Meanwhile some Afghans just finished recruiting some 100,000 Muslims there(many of them students and their teachers) to be deployed to fight us in Afghanistan. They already begun training. The recruits have a petition addressed to President Arroyo to grant them visas or legal entry to Pakistan enroute to Afghanistan... Meanwhile the Government, like a good parent, is dis-couraging them like it's hard for them to go, that it takes months to process papers, and maybe Pakistan don't want to accept them. It's ironic that while more than a million Filipinos are employed working peacefully in many Muslim Arab lands --- these 100,000 or so are being employed to Go to War for the Opposite cause...

"I have never been hotter in my life than running for a plane in the Manila airport".

Will,
Isn't what you meant to say was that "i have never been hotter in my life than running after a Filipino gal at the manila airport." <g> mike
