ok, that might be somewhat high but I do have to point you to few intel's bits
1) about y/y growth of 18%
2) 300 mil pc under 500 MHz
3) 450 mil pcs under 750 MHz
4) by 2005 the usage of internet would double from 500 mil to 1 Bil

if we take 1 and apply to current 140 for 2 years (recall that capacity is by the end of '02 and hence for '03) we get ~200mil

if we apply it to amd's 30mil we get 42 mil. You pointed out yourself that 50 mil is a max so 8 mil security blanket is reasonable, I think.

Now, what about this other topic that you are avoiding - intel's overcapacity
