Apart from in a very strong trend, I believe that the allowable error in the next bar is great enough to make predicting the bar almost impossible. You have a greater chance of predicting a price that will be hit by, say, one of the next five bars.

From your comments regarding speed of exchange vs bubble sorts, I assume you are looking at 1 minute bars. If you do manage to predict the next bar, do you think you can trade fast enough to profit from it, bearing in mind you have to overcome the spread?

Is your objctive to always know where the price is headed in the very short term, or to be able to get a number of high confidence signals at various times of the hour/day/week that produce enough trades to make a steady profit over the long term?
