From the paper about SEAHUB:

The efficient transport, handling, and storage of these ubiquitous boxes are key in the increasing international trade, which in turn is the basis for the vaunted global economy. All projections of container volume over the next 5 to 15 years see significant expansion in the volume of containers and the nature of the cargo transported in them. Is this still true, given the new realities? The extra transportation costs imposed by anti-terrorism measures and higher insurance costs could foster more local consumption and less world trade. Insurance companies are already talking about doubling the premiums on high-rise office buildings in major cities. Despite what Rudy Giuliani says, this will drive business out of NYC. Lots of New Yorkers are now taking vacations in the nearby Catskill Mountains instead of flying to Arizona etc. I wonder if we will see something similar with trade patterns?
