the result wasn't widely publicized Actually the Judical Watch recount was widely and loudly published. It's just that they only counted a select few of the ballots, just like they did in the election. The recount that they are keeping quiet is the one from the University of Chicago which shows that Gore won Florida and the national election including the electorial college by a large margin.
