I have news for you. Sikhs are not from the middle east and they are quite distinguishable from people from ME. To have a Sikh remove his turban is a great insult. It's kind of like asking somebody to take off their underwear in public. All it requires is a little more sensitivity to make sure you are not insulting people when you ask them to do something. Sikhs are completely different from Muslims ... unfortunately most Americans don't know the difference ... you can tell the difference just by the way they wear their turban. The airport personnel should be trained in the differences ... they are quite obvious ... to us anyway. Sikhs are your friends and may be fighting side by side with you soon if India sends troops ... don't turn your friends into your enemies by being insensitive. There's nothing wrong with profiling ... just don't assume anybody who wears a turban is a Muslim ... that would be a great mistake. In India the best soldiers in the Indian army are Sikh ... you want those guys on your side. The Sikh communities have been very vocal in their support of the U.S. in this war ... too bad you guys haven't been paying attention. This post is not about being politically correct ... it's about being more accurate in your profiling. Profiling is ok as far as I'm concerned ... just make sure you do it right. You wouldn't like it if another country started profiling all white people as skin heads just because they were white. Lola:) P.S.: None of the hijackers wore turbans!
