It turned out to be the best single decision Intel made outside of the DRAM business exit, IMO.


Well, I think the decision to go ahead with the 4004 was #1. Without that, no jump on the microprocessor business. Nitpicking here.

this gamble may prove to be just as beneficial under some scenarios but ..... (there is always a but)
intel's overcapacity may turn into disaster and I am not talking about survival but rather than the effect on the share price.
