Sikhs habitually carry their Kirpans (religious daggars) in their turbans.

I don't know where you got that information but I have never heard of Sikhs doing that ... I may be wrong. I come from a Sikh family and nobody I know has ever done that. I would think it would be quite acceptable to ask Sikhs to leave their Kirpans at home when travelling on an airplane. I think they would be understanding of that request under the current circumstances. If there are Sikhs carrying Kirpans in their turbans ... that's definitely a naughty thing to do ... especially these days.

Lola:)

Hi Darran,

> Sikhs habitually carry their Kirpans (religious daggars) in their turbans. That is the reason they are being asked to remove their head wear.

Sikhs don't carry religious daggars any more. Some of my more orthodox Sikhs actually carry a substitute piece of iron that is rounded and every small (size of a pen). It has no pointed edges and looks more like a pen.

Even they never attempt to conceal it. I don't think they keep it in their turbans...though do some times use it to adjust their turbans.

In essence I think the Sikhs have adjusted a lot to fit into America.
