Silicon Graphics says may raise outlook
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov 1 (Reuters) - Network computer maker Silicon Graphics
Inc.(NYSE:SGI - news) may be on the verge of raising its outlook after a string of recent
deals, its chief executive said on Thursday.

In an interview on CNBC, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bob Bishop outlined recent
deals with software leader Microsoft Corp.(NasdaqNM:MSFT - news) and Japan's NEC
Corp.. ``We've actually put on the table two transactions that would justify a much higher valuation than we are seeing in
the markets,'' he said.

Asked if Silicon Graphics, which has struggled to restructure, were ready to provide better guidance, Bishop said, ``Yes, I
think we are.'' Analysts polled by Thomson Financial/First Call on average expect a loss of 17 cents per share in the
December-ending fiscal second quarter.

Silicon Graphics said on Monday that it had won a research deal with the U.S. Air Force Space Warfare Center. Last week
it announced that NEC companies were acquiring a 60 percent stake of its Japanese distributor for about $96 million and
first-quarter results that were boosted by a cross-patent license agreement with Microsoft.

Silicon Graphics shares jumped 160 percent last week and were up 41 cents to $2.15 on Thursday on the New York Stock
Exchange.
