Maybe not "one-time", but infrequent. They reported something like 58 consecutive quarters with investment gains. It's rather logical to conclude that the losses are nearly all written off and MSFT is soon to be in a position to report strong gains on their investments going forward.

Perhaps for the next 58 quarters.

Remember, They invest a large part of their equity in bonds. 5% per year on $36 billion is around $1.8 billion. That's nice cash flow.
