<<< "In an interview yesterday, Peter Fisher, the Treasury's undersecretary for domestic finance, said that "today's decision is in no way an attempt to manage long-term interest rates. That is not what motivated us." >>>>

Yeah sure. That's why they announced it one day after the plunge in consumer confidence and on the exact day of negative GDP. Paul O'Neill also lied yesterday on CNBS about the motivation of it. He said it was the right thing to do to save the taxpayers money. Sure. He also said that he thought 4th Quarter GDP would NOT be negative. It's pretty clear what their intentions are here - ie- just blow more air into a bursting bubble. Really stupid clowns!

I'm standing clear of any heavy shorting until we have some kind of high volume blow-off capitulation move with a VIX around 20-22. I think CSCO earnings and Fed meeting next week may be the time. Having said that, we will probably implode now. -g-

Be careful out there, this is a dangerous battlefield.
