OT-XP is pretty easy to install. It actually leaves everything on your computer, and upgrades it. In the beginning of the installation process, it analyzes your entire system, and gives you instructions on what to uninstall. You can then print the instructions, and go into settings on control panel, and use the add/remove to uninstall programs.

The only major application I had to remove, and reinstall, was WinFaxPro. I also had to uninstall LapLink Gold, which XP eliminates the need for. Other programs that it recommended removing because of compatibility issues, went with my DVD player, such as Direct CD, Easy CD Creator, Sony Picture Gear. But XP eliminates the need for these, so I did not reinstall them. I did need to download a new DVD encoder in case I want to watch DVDs on the computer, but XP made this easy by prompting me to an Internet download, where you just click and it downloads off the Internet to your computer.

Other programs that it recommended removing before the upgrade, which I did remove, were Memory Stick Formatter, Open Jukebox, and some other small misc. programs that were originally installed by Sony.

Once you uninstall the programs, you go ahead and initiate the automated installation process and it takes about 73 minutes. Then it prompts you to reinstall Microsoft Outlook, because it makes some modifications to Outlook. The only glitch I found, was it then asks you to register Outlook, and when you do, it doesn't accept the registration because it says you are already registered. When I opened Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.,it asked me to register it, but it wouldn't allow me to register because it said I was already registered. So I had to call Microsoft and explain this to them, and they gave me a registration number to make this problem go away.

I hope this information is helpful.
