wanna_bmw, I had a couple of issues with my Shuttle AK31A running an Athlon XP1600+. It seems that the AK31A has problems when running the DDR memory with 4-way interleaving on. Once I went to 2-way interleaving my problems went away. This is a well documented problem in the newsgroups with the AK31A and it may need a bios upgrade to fix it. Other than that, my system has been stellar. I think OEMS can preset their BIOS to settings that make the MB stable. For example, the Dells we use at work have NO memory setting capabilities in the BIOS whatsoever. These overclocker types ( like Tom ) like to tweak their memory so the motherboard makers add those features in. I would not complain if my system became unstable after I played around with memory settings. I would expect certain settings to make any system unstable.

p.s. The problem was random hangs/reboots.
