Sorry for the OT, but:

I'm starting to think worse things than that: our fabled politicians represent the government, and themselves, but not the citizens, in the least ...

There is no domestic security

In normal times it would be someone like Cheney, who has experience and authority of the VP to brief daily or weekly. He's too busy running the top job while Georgie talks to the school kiddies. No one else of any competence is available to shore up the most critical military front: the homeland.

That's either because they know what's really going on, and there's really no problem, and are just scaring everybody for other reasons (legislation, taxes, etc). Or they're out to lunch.

Or both.
