CIA officials Wednesday rejected a French newspaper report that one of their agents allegedly met with terrorist mastermind Osama bin laden in July.

I've got the sense that this is a CIA disinformation campaign aimed at making it look like Bin Laden was a CIA asset... That's just the kind of dirty tricks campaign that might gain acceptance in the muslim world because it sounds so incredible to believe.

Of course, I highly doubt that he's been on the payroll recently, if ever, but it could stir distrust amongst his own people.

But lord help Tenet and the Bush administration, if this is confirmed by a credible 1st hand source.
