Report: U.S. Closing in on Bin Laden Thursday Nov. 1, 2001; 9:44 p.m. EDT The U.S. military in Aghanistan has "narrowed the search for Osama bin Laden to just a few caves -- possibly as few as six," reported Fox News Channel late Thursday. "Military sources are not giving specific locations of the handful of caves bin Laden could be hinding in, but say the cave complexes are under 24-hour surveillance," FNC's Bret Baher explained. "Today the Pentagon released new gun-camera video of U.S. attack aircraft hitting caves near Kabul with laser guided bombs. The decision now is whether to launch a commando raid on the suspected hide-out caves or to drop penatrating bunker-buster bombs into them. "The problem with the latter option is that military sources say the U.S. needs a confirmed kill on bin Laden and they may not get that by dropping bombs into those caves. "Pentagon officials say the troops are ready for commando raids and they also say they know that bin Laden, from intelligence gathered, is surrounded by a lot of protection -- making the mission extremely dangerous." newsmax.com
