hi iso,

one largely unremarked aspect of immigration is the 'h1-b' visa class for a boatload of hi-tek engineering talent employed at just about every hi-tek shop you could name. i recently retired from intel and i can assure you there are a lot of very nervous folks walking the halls...

i'm NOT trying to stir up the rabble. i'm just pointing to a fact of life that could become a major problem in the business environment of an already vulnerable sector in a very shaky economy.

if i may quote from 'monty python': "no one expects the spanish inquisition..." it just seems that, somehow, suddenly, you're right in the middle of the damned thing.

regards,
larry

isopatch, I have had lots of conversations with my friends in the Democratic party structure re Hispanic vote. From my experience in Latin America, solely my hunch is that the Hispanic vote short term leans Democratic, but long-term helps form the back bone of the Republican Party in the 21st Century.

The U.S. may want to revisit as part of our review of immigration policies whether we want to tilt our immigration policies toward additional Latin American immigration. This could become a hot topic over the next couple of years, strangely moving in the opposite direction of diversifying our energy sources both technologically (renewables) and geographically.
