It's nice to be patriotic and have team spirit but there are lot's of other people in the world who feel the same about the places they live. You should recognize that. Not everyone wants to live here. Just for sake of discussion, why do you think we are the greatest?

The fanatical extremist liberals have now shown themselves for the complete and utter idiots that they are. After spending the last 8 years freaking out about the dangers of the religious right we are faced with the most radical religious fanatics in the world and they all of a sudden want to respect this religion whose moderates are to the right of Jerry Falwell.
They have been so brain washed into self hatred that they are now calling for the union of religion and state. Those same people who wouldn't allow the boy scouts their religious freedoms now want us to suspend a war because of a religious holiday. They are damned by their own words.

Sorry, DH, couldn't resist butting in.....

<<You've got to be kidding. This is the greatest nation in the world. Bar none. >>

Man, I couldn't agree with you more. I am happier than a pig in sh*t to be an American, warts (mine and America's!) and all. But I imagine many (maybe most?) people the world over feel the same about their country as well.....

Still, just because you and I happen to agree, it is not really necessary or important. You can't externalize that experience, explain it rationally, or even fully comprehend it IMHO. Just the same, you also can't deny it. Hard to get too far from what old man Dick used to say about his experience, and his beliefs..... guess he was spot-on.
